I’m a fifth-generation Islander, born and raised here on the coast — and after nearly 15 years in the HVAC trade, I’ve launched my own company: Marmot Heating & Cooling.
I’ve worked with everything from small local teams to some of the bigger companies on the Island. Over the years, I’ve hired and mentored dozens of local techs and learned what works and what really doesn’t. Starting this business is my chance to do things right, with a focus on quality, honesty, and treating people the way I’d want my own family treated.
My wife and I live on a small garlic farm just outside Nanaimo, and we’re proud to call this place home. If you’re from the area, you might recognize my last name “Place” from Place Road, which leads to the land my family owned for decades. My grandfather made sure that land ended up in the right hands, and it’s now what many of us know and love as Pipers Lagoon Park. That spirit of giving back is a big part of why I’m doing this.
We’re just getting started, so I’m offering very competitive pricing right now and I’m committed to doing things the right way as we grow. That’s why I’ve joined organizations like the Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce, BBB and TECA — not just for show, but to stay connected, informed, and held to a higher standard.
